 Uist News, Wednesday 4th October

A very cloudy start to the day here on North Uist this morning, it is forecast to brighten later on this morning though with a little sunshine expected in the afternoon. A Minke whale was spotted feeding close inshore at Griminish Point yesterday, these whales are known for eating a variety of fish - krill, cod, herring and pollock are among some of the sea creatures they go looking for.

Miniature narcissus is just another name for a dwarf daffodil variety. Like regular-sized daffodils, they grow from fall planted bulbs and bloom in spring. The size of a dwarf daffodil depends on the variety, but generally they grow 4 to 6 inches (10-15 cm.) tall with flowers that are just one and a half inches (4 cm.).
