Uist News, Monday 18th May A beautiful start to the day here on Uist today. It is forecast to remain the same for most of the day, but it is still quite chilly with this south-easterly wind. It was lovely to step out of the house this morning to the sound of the cuckoo and the high-pitched whistle of the oystercatchers. There was also a blackbird perched on the end of the ridge singing with its fluted carefree song. This must be one of our most favourite garden visitors, especially first thing in the morning!

Miniature narcissus is just another name for a dwarf daffodil variety. Like regular-sized daffodils, they grow from fall planted bulbs and bloom in spring. The size of a dwarf daffodil depends on the variety, but generally they grow 4 to 6 inches (10-15 cm.) tall with flowers that are just one and a half inches (4 cm.).
