We are very pleased to offer our customers this magnificent and fascinating map of the Uists, (Bernaray through to Barra). Available as a fine print and high quality melamine table mats. A real insight into the history of the islands and the art of cartography in the 17th century.
Blaeu was a ground-breaking cartographer, recognising the market for attractive and well made maps amoung the wealthy of Europe. His maps of Scotland were largely based on the earlier work of the elusive Scotsman Timothy Pont.
Our print shows the original hand-coloured detail including a decorative border. You can pick out the churches, brochs, place-names, lochs and harbours of the islands.
Printed on heavy 160gsm paper, it is crammed with interesting information and looks rather beautiful when framed.
